regional tas — TAS1
Tasmania's spot price sits at $83.41/MWh at 06:30 AEST, with total demand at 935 MW. That represents a material easing from the elevated pricing seen around the 07:10–09:30 AEST window overnight, where prices held a tight band of $96.12/MWh for extended periods, and a brief spike to $157.07/MWh at 08:30 AEST. The 24-hour trend shows prices peaked in the $120–$154/MWh range during the early evening hours before settling into the current sub-$90/MWh territory through the back half of the trading day.
The generation mix is entirely renewable at this interval: hydro is contributing 226.59 MW and wind 204.08 MW, with gas OCGT sitting at zero output. Carbon intensity registers 0 tCO2/MWh and renewable penetration is 100%, a position that has been sustained across virtually every recorded interval today — the sole exception being a brief dip to 94.25% renewable at the 06:30 UTC interval. Gas capacity remains on standby but has not been dispatched.
Predispatch forecasts point to a moderate price lift through the morning peak. The 07:00 AEST interval is forecast at $70.12/MWh, but forecasts for the 08:00–09:00 AEST window converge in the $75–$89/MWh range before stepping up toward $96–$98/MWh through the mid-morning. Earlier predispatch runs had flagged the 07:00 AEST (21:00 UTC) interval as high as $153/MWh, but those forecasts revised sharply downward across successive runs, with the most recent print landing at $70.12/MWh — a significant moderation that suggests softer demand and/or stronger renewable output than initially anticipated.
A substantial volume of market notices is active and warrants close attention. AEMO has issued "Prices Subject to Review" notices under NER Clause 3.9.2B (Manifestly Incorrect Inputs) covering a near-continuous sequence of intervals from approximately 04:35 AEST through to 06:30 AEST today — roughly 25 active review notices remain unresolved. Three earlier intervals (02:00, 02:55, and 03:40 AEST) have since been confirmed unchanged following review. Traders should treat settled prices across this morning's early intervals as provisional until AEMO completes its review process; any retrospective price adjustments would flow through to settlement.
