Load Advisor
VIC1 and SA1 are the standout regions for load shifting today, with predispatch prices collapsing to $0.01/MWh across multiple intervals from 11:00 AEST through to at least 12:30 AEST. That near-zero pricing represents savings of over $19/MWh against current spot in VIC1 ($10.22/MWh) and nearly $19/MWh against SA1's current $8.70/MWh — the absolute cheapest windows available anywhere in the NEM today. Any deferrable load in Victoria or South Australia should be scheduled into the 11:00–12:30 AEST block without hesitation.
NSW1 offers a meaningful but secondary opportunity. Prices drop from the current $56.98/MWh to $37.89–$37.95/MWh between 11:00 and 12:30 AEST — a saving of roughly $39/MWh. That's a solid "good" quality window and the best available in the region today. QLD1 also shows a price break in the same window, with intervals touching $34.59–$35.96/MWh against a current $52.74/MWh spot, delivering savings above $40/MWh. Queensland flexible load should target the 11:00–12:30 AEST window as a priority.
TAS1 remains expensive throughout at $88.14/MWh across all forecast intervals — no load shifting value exists in Tasmania today. Avoid scheduling discretionary load there unless operationally necessary. WA1 data is stale (last settlement 9:30 AEST on 12 March) and should not be relied upon for today's scheduling decisions.
The NEM-wide recommendation: concentrate all shiftable load into the 11:00–12:30 AEST window, with VIC1 and SA1 offering the deepest price trough at effectively zero cost, NSW1 and QLD1 providing strong sub-$38/MWh and sub-$35/MWh intervals respectively. Avoid load peaks ahead of that window, particularly in NSW1 where current prices at $56.98/MWh reflect the elevated morning demand profile. Reassess QLD1 afternoon exposure as predispatch forecasts show the region trending back above $53/MWh post-13:00 AEST.
